REVIEW – SAVOR CARD BY CAPITAL ONE

I applied for the Capital One Savor Card as soon as I saw it.  I’m a millennial so I like to go out and spend money on restaurants and entertainment, that’s why it caught my eye.  But there is so much more.  Here are the positives and the negatives.

Savor Card: Positive v. Negative

Positive:  Sign up bonus is $500 cash back when you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months.

Negative: You need to spend $3,000 in the first 3 months and can pay the card off.

Positive: Savor Card gives 4% cash back at restaurants and entertainment

Negative: You shouldn’t eat out more if you can’t afford it.  This is only good if you already spend money on eating out otherwise this card might tempt you to spend more money than you have

Positive: 2% cash back at grocery stores. This is awesome because it is always 2%, so this beat out all those cards that offer 1.5% on everything.  So, unless you have a rotating category card that gives you 5% at grocery stores, this is the best card on the market.

Negative: Not really a negative unless you decide you want to buy more at a grocery store than you can afford…but usually grocery trips are a set monthly amount.

Negative: No 0% APR Perks or balance transfers available with this card yet.

Positive: Price Surge Protection – you have 120 days to get a refund for the difference if you paid a higher price for an item.
